✔️ Xyotil is prescribed for the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure). It can be used:
- Alone as monotherapy.
- In combination with other antihypertensive agents.
✔️ Dosage & Administration of Xyotil 40
- Starting dose: 20 mg once daily for most patients.
- If further reduction is needed after 2 weeks, the dose may be increased to 40 mg once daily.
- Maximum dose: 40 mg per day (higher doses do not offer additional benefit).
- Can be taken with or without food.
Pediatric use: Not established for safety and efficacy.

- Patients with volume depletion (e.g., diuretic use) should start under close medical supervision with a lower dose.

Take Xyotil 40 as advised by your physician. Swallow the medicine with a glass of water. Do not crush or chew the medicine. It can be taken with or without meals. Your doctor will decide the correct dose and duration of therapy for you depending upon your age, body weight, and disease condition.
✔️ Xyotil 40: Side Effects
Common (≥1%):
- Dizziness (3% in Xyotil-treated patients vs. 1% with placebo).
Others (similar to placebo):
- Back pain, headache, diarrhea, rhinitis, sinusitis, hyperglycemia, bronchitis, and influenza-like symptoms.
Cough incidence: 0.9% (similar to placebo).
✔️ Drug Interactions
- NSAIDs (e.g., COX-2 inhibitors): May reduce the antihypertensive effect of Xyotil and impair renal function. Monitor renal function when used together.
- No significant interactions with digoxin, warfarin, or antacids
✔️ Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Olmesartan or any component of the formulation.
✔️ Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy:
- Contraindicated during the second and third trimesters due to risks of fetal injury or death.
- Discontinue immediately if pregnancy is detected.
- Lactation:
- Olmesartan may be excreted in human milk; use with caution.

- Monitor renal function in patients with renal impairment or severe heart failure.
- Risk of acute renal failure or oliguria in patients dependent on the renin-angiotensin system.
- Overdose symptoms: Hypotension, tachycardia, or bradycardia. Support cardiovascular function if an overdose occurs.
